On-line fault diagnosis of distribution substation using fuzzy reasoning

An online fault diagnosis system using fuzzy reasoning for fault section estimation of distribution substation is proposed in this paper. The proposed algorithm using the cause-effect networks to represent the functions of protective relays and circuit breakers for selection of faulted sections, which are expressed in fuzzy model. In order to identify the fault sections, the fuzzy relations for the cause-effect networks were defined to describe these uncertainly information. Because the cause-effect network has well suitable for parallel processing and the fuzzy set has fast solution advantage, so the inference speed can be improved significantly. A practical distribution system is selected for computer simulation to test the efficiency of the proposed algorithm. It is found the proposed algorithm is a pretty effective method.
