Integrating design for performance and reliability

The traditional reliability methodology considers the failure time of product is uncertain, and the probability is used to express the failure of product. The current reliability methodology considers the uncertainty is occurred in failure-process of product, and the failure-process analysis is concerned more than failure-time analysis. In this situation, we propose the technique of Integrating Design for Performance and Reliability (IDPaR), which is an effective method for reliability design and analysis of product or system. The concept and meaning of IDPaR are described, and the definition and expression of performance-reliability are given. The theory of performance-reliability based on multistate structure function is introduced and presented. In the case study of a type of missile's flight control system, the main interrelated factors of the system failure are analyzed, the performance-reliability model is deduced and established, and the algorithm flow of performance-reliability is represented
