Understanding EIS use: an empirical test of a behavioral model

Using a framework from organizational behavior, this study field-tested an explanatory model of EIS utilization, with a sample of 38 executives in nine organizations. The dependent variables (behavior) are the internalization and the frequency of EIS use. The factors hypothesized to be linked to this behavior are EIS experience (habits), work group influence (social factor), user satisfaction with information, system access and assistance (affect), consequences (of EIS use), EIS sophistication, and presence of a hotline (facilitating conditions). The data collected during the study confirm the appropriateness of the model. The results are discussed and their implications for researchers and practitioners are analyzed.<<ETX>>
