An integrated digital controller for brushless AC motors using a DSP microprocessor

The recent availability of very fast digital signal processing (DSP) microprocessors provides the possibility of obtaining an all-digital control system-both speed and current loops-the AC drives. The overall integrated modular design should be more efficient, more reliable and certainly more flexible, provided the essential control requirements at least can be implemented in software. The authors describe the design approach and implementation of an all-digital AC brushless control system based on the TMS320C25 DSP microprocessor.
