Integrated Qualitativeness inDesign byMulti-Objective Optimization andInteractive Evolutionary Computation

Theconcept ofqualitativeness indesign isan important one,andneedstobeincorporated inthe optimization process foranumberofreasons outlined inthispaper. Interactive Evolutionary Computation andFuzzySystems aretwoofthewidely used approaches forhandling qualitativeness indesign optimization. Thispaperclassifies thetypesof qualitativeness observed indesign optimization, makes thecasefortheir necessity, andproposes a novel framework forhandling them,combining thetwo approaches in an evolutionary multi-objective optimization platform. Two components of the framework aretestedusingthefloor-planning problem, andobservations arereported. Future work isdefined onthedevelopment oftheframework.
