A continuously variable transmission comprising: an input shaft (6) which is rotated by a drive source (5); an output shaft (20) for acceptance of a drive force, which goes back to the rotation of the input shaft (6); a variator (2) interposed between the input shaft (6) and the output shaft (20) is arranged; a planetary gear device (3), is arranged between the input shaft (6) and the output shaft (20); switching means (18, 26, 34) for switching a first mode in which a return line of the driving force through the variator (2) takes place and a second mode in which a return flow of the driving force through the variator (2) does not take place, characterized by a detecting means (31, 32, 33, 35) for detecting a gear ratio of a first driving force transmission system (16) which introduces through the variator (2) in the planetary gear set (3), and a gear ratio of a second driving force transmission system (19) which directly and not through the variator (2) in the planetary gear device (3) initiates, wherein the ...
