The BCGS-FFT method for electromagnetic scattering from inhomogeneous objects in a planarly layered medium

An iterative method, the stabilized biconjugate gradient fast Fourier transform (BCGS-FFT) method, combined with the FFT is developed for solving electromagnetic (EM) scattering from inhomogeneous objects embedded in a planarly layered medium. The CPU time and memory cost of this BCGS-FFT method is O(NlogN) and O(N), respectively, significantly more efficient than both direct and iterative solutions of the method of moment. As a result, this method is capable of solving large-scale EM scattering problems in a planarly layered background.
