a spondylarthrite ankylosante est un rhumatisme inflammatoire chronique qui représente la forme la plus fréquente des spondylarthropathies, Elle affecte principalement le squelette axial (rachis, articulations sacro-iliaques, articulations de la paroi thoracique antérieure) mais aussi parfois le squelette périphérique. Il existe des spondylarthrites sans atteinte axiale, dont la présentation clinique est donc différente, et qui posent des problèmes diagnostiques particuliers. La sémiologie radiologique des atteintes périphériques de la spondylarthrite ankylosante est bien connue depuis longtemps, mais l’apparition de nouveaux schémas thérapeutiques nécessitant un diagnostic précoce a fait évoluer les besoins en imagerie, faisant de nos jours une large place à l’échographie et à l’IRM.
