DESIGN FOR JIGLESS ASSEMBLY - CASE STUDY OF A CIVIL AIRLINER FIXED LEADING EDGE

This paper deals with the development of a novel methodology to specifically design for jigless assembly and its application to a case study of a civil airline fixed leading edge. The objectives of the work have been to demonstrate its use on the Jigless Aerospace Manufacture project Demonstrator Structure, a section of the Airbus A320 Fixed Leading Edge, and in particular, to describe the development and utilisation of a Feature Library to select Assembly Features for Jigless Assembly.
