COMUNICAÇÃO DO SURDO COM PROFISSIONAIS DE SAÚDE NA BUSCA DA INTEGRALIDADE

This paper aims to analyze and identify the conception of deaf people regarding the communication with health professionals. It was made a qualitative research in which semi-structured interviews were conducted with guiding questions, with six deaf adults. The interviews were carried out with the help of an interpreter of the Brazilian Sign Language (Libras). The set of information obtained was submitted to the content thematic analysis. Six people participatedin the research, 3 men and 3 women, aged between 19 and 44 years, whose hearing loss occurred in the first years of their lives and who used Libras as the main way of communication. The results are discussed within 2 thematic categories: relation professional-deaf patient and promotion of deaf patient autonomy. It was concluded that there are several obstacles for deaf people due to communication difficulties with health professionals. Further, knowledge of Libras by health teams would make easy the health professional-patient relationship.
