Ultrasound promoted synthesis of 1 , 2-disubstituted benzimidazoles using aqueous hydrotropic solution

The present work deals with the green efforts for C-N bond fabrication of N-arylmethyl-2-substituted benzimidazole by using efficient combination of ultrasound (US) and aqueous hydrotropic solution (50% NaPTS) at ambient temperature. The method offers outstanding compensations such as gentle reaction conditions, simple procedure, and use of water as green solvent, catalyst-free conditions with good yields of products in short time. Ultrasound irradiation is well suited for aqueous hydrotropic solution and effectively decreases the reaction time and increases the final yield of products.
