This paper presents a new application of dynamic frequency scaling in conjunction with variations of frame-wise processing burden. The operating frequency of processors is controlled dynamically with exploiting the characteristics of each data frame processed in the multimedia algorithms. The proposed algorithm is designed and implemented on a mobile digital TV platform to verify the performance of power-save. The overall power-save can be maximized using the proposed algorithm with traditional power-save method such as scalable time/spatial resolution and LCD backlight brightness control.
