6 Channel PCM Sound Receiver For Japanese Communication Satellite Audio Broadcasting System

A six-channel pulse code modulation (PCM) sound receiver for the Japanese CS (communication satellite) audio broadcasting system has been developed. A new MSK (minimum shift keying) demodulator was employed in the receiver. The construction of the receiver, the key technologies for the MSK demodulator, and the experimental results are described. The receiver had excellent BER (bit error rate) characteristics and a good stability at low C/N because of a simple circuit configuration. The experimental results showed good BER characteristics. The degradation from the theoretical value was less than 1 dB. >
