THE CREEP OF REINFORCING BARS IS GROUTED SLEEVE SPLICES UNDER PERIODS OF SUSTAINED LOADING UP TO ONE WEEK WAS INVESTIGATED IN A TEST PROGRAM. REINFORCING BARS IN SIZES 8 THROUGH 11 WERE TESTED AT EMBEDMENT LENGTHS OF 5 IN. FOR THE TIME PERIODS STUDIED, CREEP CAN BE EXPRESSED AS A LINEAR FUNCTION OF THE LOGARITHM OF TIME FOR EACH BAR SIZE. THE CREEP IN SLEEVE SPLICES SHOULD DEFINITELY BE CONSIDERED WHEN SUCH SPLICES OCCUR IN AREAS WHERE THE REINFORCING BARS ARE SUBJECTED TO A HIGH TENSILE STRESS. /ASCE/
