The control device for a hybrid vehicle with an exhaust-driven generator comprising: a turbine (10); an exhaust-driven generator (11); a motor generator (16); a battery (14); and a control unit to (12) to exercise based on a result of reading a status signal, overall control on the exhaust-driven generator, the motor generator and the battery. When the control unit determines based on the result of reading the status signal that the power output of the engine is to be supported by the motor generator, the control unit determines further whether the power generation by the exhaust gas driven generator in a locked state or an allowed state. When the control unit determined that the power generation by the exhaust-driven generator in the locked state, the control unit terminates the power generation by the exhaust gas driven generator to drive the motor generator through the power from the battery.
