Thermal Strength Analysis of HP Casing for a Certain Type of Turbine Under Emergency Start-up

Three-dimensional model of the HP casing of a certain type of marine turbine was established.By using the finite element method,the temperature and stress field of this casing under an emergency start-up condition were calculated to get the max.section of the temperature and stress.The casing strength was checked through pressure vessel strength theory,with the results showing that the peak at the stress concentration area exceeded the ultimate strength.Otherwise,the casing would suffer from creep damage under the long-term's cyclic load condition.The calculation results can provide theoretical reference for optimizing casing structure and improving start-up schedule.
