This article is an introduction to the ISP (Information Search Process) for those involved in the design of information systems and services. It briefly presents the problem addressed, summarizes the research findings, discusses theoritocal perspectives emerging from these findings, describes the impact on library and information services and suggests some implications fo IR (Information Retrieval) system design.
