Research of the Construction of Evaluation Index of Management Quality of Hot Spring Hotels in Taiwan

Through documents about the characteristics of hot spring resources in Taiwan and the hotel rating evaluation and reference materials about business strategies and strategy management of hotels and B&B and by way of Focus group interview and Analytic Hierarchy Process, AHP, our research aims at establishing the index analysis and analyzing significant items of management quality of hot spring hotels in Taiwan, eventually analyzing the relative weight of each index item with a view to offering the industry proposals of management. In the second dimension of our research, the priority of weight are service quality(43%), hot spring resources(34.7%), and building and equipment(21.4%). From the above, service quality has more effects than hot spring resources as well as building and equipment, which shows that service quality is the focus of hot spring hotel management. Moreover, in the analysis of overall weight in the third dimension, the weight of the staff training and service manners is even higher than all the other items, which indicates that in the management of hot spring hotels, personnel quality and service manners can win tourists’ hearts for long and the professional service of hot spring hotel employees has turned into the crucial element for the development of the spa industry. The weight of hot spring cultures and marketing features comes second on account that effective marketing keeping up with international trends can create local cultural characteristics of sustainability and develop marketing innovation of hot spring hotels to attract tourists. Meal quality and dining service comes third. Hot spring hotels make use of local specialty for cuisine, which enables customers to take a bath in hot springs and enjoy local delicacies, and therefore, meal quality and dining service shines. The sum of the above 3 weights has been over 40% of the overall weight, and as a result, our research suggests that the industry should put emphasis on the 3 items to boost the quality of management so as to help increase customers’ satisfaction.
