A New Approach to Change Detection Using Heterogeneous Images

In this paper, we present a new approach to change detection using heterogeneous images, which mean that the images are coming out of different imagers. This is a very challenging problem because the image pixels have drastically different magnitudes and characteristics. For example, change detection using optical and synthetic aperture radar (SAR) is one of the potential applications. Comparison of the proposed approach with some conventional algorithms in the literature indicates that the proposed method is promising, but more research is still needed.
