[F-18]MK-3328: Evaluation of a novel PET tracer for amyloid plaque in rhesus monkey

Introduction: Amyloid plaque is the hallmark pathology of Alzheimer's Disease (AD). Although it is not conclusive whether amyloid plaque is a cause or a result of AD, anti-amyloid therapeutics which can remove amyloid plaque or inhibit its formation is of great interest. A PET tracer for amyloid plaque may be a useful tool to aid in early diagnosis of AD, assess the efficacy of disease-modifying agents in the development of new drugs, and monitor treatment of new therapies for AD. We have radiolabeled a series of novel amyloid plaque ligands with F and evaluated them in rhesus monkey PET studies, resulting in the identification of [F]MK-3328.
