The cost-efficient, common-ground, non-isolated three-port converter deduced from the single-inductor dual-output (SIDO) topology

In recent year, three-port converter (TPC) has been widely presented to connect the renewable source, energy-stored component and the load for renewable application. In this paper, a new non-isolated TPC deduced from a single-inductor-dual-output (SIDO) converter is proposed. The proposed TPC is obtained by introducing a coupling winding and a diode in the original SIDO converter. Such a derivation requires the minimal component amount and its three ports share the common ground. The derivation, operational principle and circuit analysis of the proposed TPC are presented in this paper, a prototype is also built to verify the analysis. The experimental results show the validity. Due to the compact-size, low-cost, common-ground and full-control features, the proposed TPC can be widely used in the low-power on-board applications.
