The effectiveness of Bi-Turnbuckle Ortho collar that was designed by us was compared with Philadelphia collar using roentgenographic measurements of flexion and extension in 15 normal subjects, and using direct measurements of three planes of cervical motion in 20 normal subjects. The restriction of cervical motion of Ortho collar was significantly (p<0.01) more effective comparing with Philadelphia collar in overall motion. The Ortho collar restricted 72per cent of flexion-extension at C1-C7 on roentogenogram, 64per cent of rotation and 45per cent of lateral bending on direct measurements.
