Triggering Factors for Relapses in Steroid Sensitive Nephrotic Syndrome

Nephrotic syndrome (NS) is a primarily a pediatric disorder and is 15 times more common in children than adults (Vogt et al., 2007; Niaudet et al., 2004). The characteristic features are heavy proteinuria (>3.5gm /24hr in adults 0r 40 mg/m2/hr in children), hypoalbuminemia (<2.5 g/dl), edema, and hyperlipidemia (Vogt et al., 2007; Niaudet et al., 2002).
