Design of radio frequency polyphase filter and its application in low-IF receivers for large image rejection

Polyphase filters are an efficient solution for high image rejection and great accuracy quadrature generation in radio frequency (RF) receivers. Analytical modeling of passive polyphase filter suitable for RF front-end applications operating in 2.4 GHz frequency band is dealt with. This analytical analysis has been used to calibrate the optimal values of passive components in order to obtain the maximum image rejection ratio (IRR). Component sizing as well as a judicious placement of the basic cell composing the filter has been taken into account during the layout process. Multi-stage RC network has been implemented in 0.13 mum STMicroelectronics CMOS technology.
