How AP computer science principles and AP computer science a fit with our schools: panel discussion

In the spring of 2017 there will be a new AP exam in computer science called "AP Computer Science Principles". The National Science Foundation, in work with the College Board, have developed this new exam based upon 7 "big ideas" in computer science (see http://apcsprinciples.org/). Over 100 colleges and universities have stated they plan to award credit for satisfactory exam scores. Some of us have worked with training high school teachers to teach this course and some have offered a CSP at the college/university level. This panel and discussion is focused on how such AP credit and/or course might fit within our own schools. Also related to this effort is the new CS for All initiative (https://www.whitehouse.gov/blog/2016/01/30/computer-science-all). There is significant effort behind trying to integrate more CS in K-12. How might this impact our CS programs? Will this help to address the gender and diversity inequity in our programs?
