The on-line surveillance and diagnostic system for the Borssele nuclear power plant (NPP), designed and established by the Energy Research Foundation of the Netherlands, has been operating continuously since a decade. The system is structured in the form of multi-processing, multi-tasking performing real-time executions for monitoring, reactor parameters’ calculation, data-base formation for expert systems and providing early information on possible malfunctions by means of plant-wide monitoring possibilities [1–5]. Along a decade of operation, the system is updated in parallel with the technological developments, in particular in the computer and real-time computing technology.
