Design of an indoor repeater antenna with high isolation using metamaterials

In this article, an innovative indoor repeater antenna with high isolation is proposed. The necessary impedance bandwidth is obtained using the coupling between the main and parasitic patches. A high isolation between transmitting and receiving antennas is achieved using metamaterial. The fabricated indoor repeater antenna has a VSWR less than 1.5, a gain higher than 9.6 dBi, and an isolation between the transmitting and receiving antennas greater than 80 dB over the WiBro band from 2.3 to 2.5 GHz. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
