Dynamic-Envelope Analysis of Clamp-Band Joint Considering Pyroshock of Satellite Separation

The improvement of methods for designing and analyzing separation systems is important for optimizing the dynamic performance of satellite separation, and for promoting the capacity of launch vehicles. This study presents the modeling and simulation methods of the clamp-band joint, which provide tools for designers to improve the clamp-band design, and therefore, the performance of the separation systems. The plate-element model is used to depict the clamp band, the nonlinear spring–damper model is used to describe the contact behavior between the V-segments of the interfaces, and a pyroshock model of the explosive bolt is developed. A multibody model is established using the Automatic Dynamic Analysis of Mechanical Systems software to simulate the satellite-separation process of a Long March 3B launch vehicle.
