User Involvement in Journal De-Selection

Despite a successful three-year staff project to eliminate little used or out of scope journals and A & I tools, a 29% increase in prices for titles on the Himmelfarb Library's subscription list created serious problems in the equitable distribution of library resources. It was decided that if the library were to provide a dynamic monographic collection, further cuts in an already lean journal list would have to be made and that faculty would have to be involved. Through a process of education and evaluation the library has been able to restore balance to its resources allocations and gain the necessary administrative support to maintain it.
