FATIGUE PERFORMANCE OF TUBULAR JOINTS FOR OFFSHORE PLATFORMS

Based on the research on the fatigue properties of D500 tubular joint series and the studies published in China and abroad, a reliable method which can be widely used for calculating the tubular joint fatigue life is established. This paper gives the S-N curves based on a large quantity of test data, and discusses the factors which affect fatigue lift. Local stress-strain method and fracture mechanics method have been used for fatigue lift calcuating analysis. This paper also gives the recommendations for the design of offshore platform tubular joints.
