Data-Enabled Estimation and Feedback Control Method Utilizing Online Magnetic Positioning System for Wireless Power Transfer Systems

Feedback control and online positioning for wireless power transfer (WPT) systems are two important issues, which are essential to the security, efficiency and stability of WPT systems. An online magnetic positioning system (OMPS) using four auxiliary coils was proposed previously to achieve precise positioning for power coils. In this paper, a novel data-enabled estimation and feedback control method using the optimized OMPS is proposed. The proposed estimation and feedback control method, which makes full use of the voltage magnitudes of the auxiliary coils, uses neural network (NN) models for parameter estimation and eliminates the need for communication and any direct measurement on the secondary side even if the position of power coils changes. Moreover, compared to the previous OMPS, the optimized OMPS eliminates the demand of data modulation and communication, which simplifies the system structure and improves the real-time performance. The proposed estimation and feedback control method using OMPS is verified by experiments on a 500-W laboratory prototype.
