Propagation of terahertzpulsesalongplanar

We present measurements andelectromagnetic simulations ofplanar Goubaulines (PGL)onquartz substrate up toITHzPGLsaresingle strip transmission lines. A veryhigh- efficiency planartransition betweena standard coplanar waveguide (CPW)andPGL isdemonstrated A time-domain electroabsorption sampling methodisusedtomeasurethe reflected andtransmitted waveforms. Transmission ofpicosecond pulses isdemonstrated. Weobtain 5dBoflosses around 200GHz and12dBaround500GHzfora4.2mm-long 5,um-wide strip andtwotransitions inabacktobacktopology. Thevalue at200 GHzisalso confrmedwithafrequency-domain measurement. (a) (b) (c)
