Model and Solution Algorithm for Multi-User and Multi-Mode Mixed Traffic Equilibrium Variational Inequality

In urban road network with mixed traffic modes, travelers frequently choose their mode and path according to their traveling preferences.Considering the mutual influences among different traffic modes in a general road network, travelers can be grouped into different user classes according to their time values. Each class of travelers can travel by car, taxi' or bus.To solve this mixed traffic equilibrium assignment problem with the mutual influences of different traffic modes, from the perspective of traffic demand,a link travel time function is developed using the BPR formula which is suitable for mixed urban traffic network.A model of multi-user and multi-mode mixed traffic equilibrium variational inequality is proposed and a hybrid solution algorithm is designed based on the diagonalization technique and the MSA method. The numerical analysis of a test network shows that the travelers with high time value tend to travel by car or taxi while the travelers with low time value tend to travel by bus.
