Etude de la consanguinité dans la population marocaine. Impact sur le profil de la santé

Inbreeding is recognized like a matrimonial practice that decides for the gene redistributions through the generations. Indeed, the inbreeding increases the frequency of the homozygous in the population and so the risk of morbidity. According to several studies, this behaviour seems to be closely associated to the socioeconomic and cultural statute of populations. The arabo-Muslim populations are more concerned by this practice than others. In the Moroccan population this behaviour stills one of the most contracted domestic models. To define the situation of this practice in Morocco as well as its repercussions on the population profile of health, we led a survey on 873 Moroccan couples. The results reveal a very elevated inbreeding level and a meaningful association to the impact of the health affections in the population. The influence of the technological progress on the evolution of this practice in the population stills weak in front of the lack of awareness and the attachment of the individuals to their traditional cultural values.
