Structural safety analysis of fixed offshore platforms

Abstract The objective of this paper is to discuss the structural safety analysis of large framed offshore structures on distributed memory parallel computers. It involves: automatic FEM domain decomposition, sparse multifrontal method, elastic-plastic incremental analysis with strain-hardening and large displacements effects and reliability analysis procedures. An application is presented to illustrate the strategy potentialities on the Intel iPSC/860 hypercube.
