A case of primary cutaneous mucormycosis produced by the new species 1

12 A case of fungal necrotizing fasciitis that appeared after a car accident is described 13 in an immunocompetent Mexican woman. The patient did not respond to antifungal 14 treatment and died four days later. The fungus was molecularly identified as a new 15 species of Apophysomyces, namely Apophysomyces mexicanus. 16
