Power flow analysis incorporating firing angle model based TCSC

This paper investigates power flow analysis incorporating a firing angle model based TCSC. Here the bus voltages, angles and the power transferred are calculated using Newton Raphson power flow method. The firing angle model of TCSC provides a firing angle based nodal admittance matrix which is incorporated in the existing load flow algorithm. This model takes account for the full loop current present in the TCSC under either partial or full conduction state and makes it more efficient than its counterpart variable impedance model. A comparison is carried out for both firing angle model and variable impedance model which is validated on IEEE30 bus and IEEE118 bus test systems.
