RFI MITIGATION ON FAST FEED CABIN

The feed cabin is one of the critical equipments for the Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope (FAST). Due to the high sensitivity of FAST, Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) measures have been required and applied to the feed cabin to mitigate the Radio Frequency Interference (RFI) radiated by the electronic devices inside the cabin, such as drivers, controllers etc. The double layers shielding measures have been used for the cabin, including the cover of the cabin and shielded rooms inside the cabin. Meanwhile, for the individual devices inside the cabin such as the Stewart platform, the special shielding methods have been adopted. After the completion of the construction, the overall Shielding Efficiency (SE) of more than 120 dB for the feed cabin has been achieved in the most observing band of FAST. The outputs of the FAST early observations have implied the success of these EMC measures.
