ABSTRACTFT-IR process analyzers have been successfully installed on hundreds of processes around theworld. Often streams analyzed are very complex multicomponent systems. Easy applications don't tend to be solved by FT-JR. as easy applications get solved by less expensive technology. But the speed and low maintenance offered by online FT-IR analyzers attract the attention ofprocess people looking for a better way to control their plant. The challenge presented is multivariate, with materials issues, physical properties(viscosity) andprocess constraints such as pressure and temperature dictating the sampling approach. Often the analyzer requirement is for a new process, and the actual quantities of species to be monitored are as yet unknown with certainty. System design must accommodate changes of cell path; even spectral region.
