The method includes the steps: mutually short-circuiting N electrodes of the capacitive touch screen and connecting the electrodes with a detection circuit; detecting the N electrodes by the detection circuit; calculating the distance between the capacitive touch screen and a nearby human body or object according to detection results. By the aid of the technical scheme, detection data of the N electrodes can be accumulated to improve detection precision, detection noise is as same as noise generated when any electrode is individually detected, the noise is reduced as compared with the prior art, the signal-to-noise ratio is correspondingly increased, and accordingly, the effective detection distance of the capacitive touch screen can be effectively increased.
