In the methodology of therapeutic studies, the effectiveness criteria for therapeutic methods are considered to be well-established. As a rule, the literature contains only the point that such criteria must be exactly defined and amenable to operationalization, i.e., measurable. However, the choice of the “proper” or suitable effectiveness criteria is often extremely problematical, especially if diseases that do not endanger life stand for the fore.
