Small Baseline DIFSAR Techniques for Earth Surface Deformation Analysis

We present in this work the results achieved by applying the differential SAR interferometry technique, referred to as Small Baseline Subsets (SBAS) [1] approach, to data acquired by the European Remote Sensing (ERS) satellites in last decade. The deformation phenomena occurring in several test sites of scientific interest have been investigated. In particular, we have considered the Napoli Bay (including the Campi Flegrei caldera and the Somma-Vesuvius volcanic complex) and the Etna volcano, both located in Italy, and the Los Angeles zone in Southern California. The proposed results demonstrate the effectiveness of the SBAS approach to analyze earth surface deformations.
