A novel speech coder for medium and high bit rate applications using modulo-PCM principles

A novel speech coder, called MPCM-AQF, is presented. The coder is designed for medium and high bit rate applications. The performance of the coder is evaluated for 26 speech utterances sampled at 8 kHz and compared with the well known ADPCM and DPCM-AQF coder performances. The results clearly show that MPCM-AQF is a relevant speech coding system and is an alternative to the DPCM coders.
