The Fifth Nagoya International Symposium on Cancer Treatment was held during the period of October 2-4, 1989 and was attended by over 400 oncologists. This book is the proceedings of the symposium and consists of 3 sections as outlined hereunder. The first session, "Scientific basis for enhancing chemotherapeutic effects," covers the experimental and pharmacological basis of multicombination chemotherapy, the second session "Breast cancer," covers mass screening and treatments, while the third session "Drug developments," includes reviews of the new, less toxic analogues of cisplatin developed in the USA and Japan. This volume provides not only a comprehensive treatise on the role of cancer chemotherapy, but it should also give a perspective on future developments.
