Reentry Landing Boundary Prediction

This paper presents a method of computing the boundary of the landing location of vehicle on reentry mission. By transforming the inequality constraints into the boundary in energy-drag space, the drag profile can be scheduled with respect to the normalized energy between the upper and lower bound which leads to the near edge and far edge of the landing zone. The magnitude of the bank angle can be derived from the drag profile, while the cross-range can be adjusted by modifying the sign of bank angle. With the derived magnitude and sign of bank angle, thestate equation can be solved to generate the landing zone.
