Application and Realization of the Histogram Specification in Image Enhancement

Image enhancement is a pre-treatment method of digital image which can improve the whole or local features of digital image effectively. Histogram specification is an important aspect of image enhancement field. In this paper,we researched and discussed the basic principles of the histogram specification,and gave the relevant formulas and algorithms; In addition,we enhanced a gray image using the histogram specification based on Matlab language tools,gave and analyzed the experimental results. Experimental results have shown that the histogram specification can improve the image contrast selectively and locally,thereby to get the expected image.
