The role of voluntary factors in heritage language development: how speakers can develop the heritage language on their own

L'A. examine les facteurs qui entrent en jeu dans le developpement de la competence linguistique concernant la langue d'heritage, en l'occurrence le coreen, chez des enfants d'immigres asiatiques vivant aux Etats-Unis. Une analyse predictive est effectuee a l'aide de coefficients de regression. L'âge des sujets et la duree de residence dans le pays d'accueil ne sont pas des predicteurs significatifs. Le predicteur le plus significatif est la visite dans le pays d'origine. L'etude montre que cette competence peut se developper sans contact avec des locuteurs natifs, mais en ayant acces a des lectures et des emissions televisees en coreen
