A numerical study in the interaction of blast wave with a wheeled armoured vehicle

This study investigates the behaviour of blast waves by employing the finite volume method to solve the associated Euler equations for three-dimensional, time-dependent, inviscid flows. The total variation diminishing (TVD) upwind method is applied. The simulation results of a wheeled armoured vehicle identify the complex phenomena of flow structures, pressure distributions and oscillation of reflected shock waves under the chassis. It is concluded from the results that the intensity of the derived reflected waves could be greater than that of the blast wave. Inappropriate for the flow of thought, the geometry decides the phenomena of flow-field, especially the oscillation of reflected shock waves under the chassis.
