Switched Capacitor Filters

This chapter deals completely with switched-capacitor filters. The basic concept of SC-based resistor is introduced together with applications to realize stray-insensitive first-order SC filters, SC delay elements, and amplifiers. The technique for analyzing two-phase SC networks using Laker’s z-domain equivalent circuits is presented. Second-order stray-insensitive biquads based on Fleisher–Laker design are discussed together with design procedures for achieving minimum area/minimum spread and optimal dynamic range. The sensitivity analysis of SC filters is also explained. The compensation of parasitic capacitance in SC circuits and application to realize biquads are elaborated. Further, multiplexed SC filters are also considered in order to reduce the number of opamps in SC filters. Techniques for realizing large time constant integrators and techniques for offset and finite gain compensation in SC integrators and gain stages are discussed in great detail.
