THE OPERATION PARAMETER SETTING SOFTWARE PACKAGE FOR THE RFX EXPERIMENT

The Operation Parameter Setting (OPS) software package is part of the RFX Control, Monitoring and Data Acquisition System (SIGMA). OPS is the tool by which the RFX operation crew generates and loads the operation parameters for the experiment sessions. During the Experiment Preparation phase, which is executed off-line prior to the experiment session, sets of consistent parameters are prepared using OPS. This includes parameter retrieval from archived shot data, parameter modification and consistency check. Consistent parameter sets are stored in a “Parameter Magazine” and organized in experiment sessions. During the parameter setting phase of the pulse execution sequence, operational parameters selected for the next shot are linked with the “experiment model” and checked against the description of the actual machine configuration. If the check succeeds parameters are loaded into control and data acquisition hardware and used for the next shot. The implementation of OPS is fully integrated with the MDS-Plus Data Acquisition Package which is used on RFX for the fast control and data acquisition tasks. The operator interface of the package is entirely based on Motif. It includes graphical tools for interactive waveform editing and display of the machine set-up parameters.
